Physical Description

Important pathogen on broadleaves and conifers. Common in Britain.

Damage Caused

Dark brown brackets develop with a white margin at soil level in leaf litter, on twigs and leaves. Trees infected from tree stumps. Extends up trunk for 3m. Tree may be killed.

Control method

Forestry Regulatiuons. Cuts of trees must be treated with Urea. Fell trees if infected. Replace soil if infected.
